Questions

LibGameLoad

"Game Load" is a utility listed in HBB. Really, it's a demo for libgameload. Is the source code for libgameload anywhere? I can't seem to find it or the demo anywhere but HBB. This looks like something I want to play around with, but it doesn't seem to exist. Anyone have details? Bobpaul

I don't believe the source is available but here is a thread that the author has replied in: http://www.tehskeen.com/forums/showthread.php?p=44500. Also the author has their own website at http://www.cashman-productions.fr.nf. --Teknecal 23:14, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

DVD-X

Does the DVD-X Installer download come with PatchMii so it can install the patchmii version for modchip users? or is patchmii a seperate app you have to install altogether?

PatchMii is a separate application for modchip users which can be found here: http://hackmii.com/2008/08/libdi-and-the-dvdx-installer/ --Teknecal 08:46, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Message Board

I quote this from the Homebrew Channel/Bugs page " but I prefer to leave my WiiConnect24 on, as I get messages from Nintendo and the Homebrew Browser, and I like to be notified when they arrive." Is it true that HBB gives out notices? If so I have yet to receive one. Pinball wizard 00:09, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Yes it's true but firstly you need to add hbb@codemii.com to your Wii address book. A few days later you'll get a confirmation email and then an email when applications have been updated. --Teknecal 08:42, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

The HBB used to work fine,, But i don't know what i did, patch mii dvdx maybe?(thats the only thing i can think of. but now the HBB doesn't work... it says connecting to server, server connected now loading homebrew browser and then it restarts homebrew channel. Or if it can't connect it says error (i am not home now so am not sure but i think error-ret 115) and it says retrying (infinately until i get a code dump error.) any Idea how i could fix this? Suggestions/Comments

Homebrew Channel Banner updating with latest Homebrew

This is a bit of a lot to ask and probably not possible due to the Homebrew Channel developers lack of openness, but I think it would be cool if the Homebrew Browser would update the Homebrew Channel's banner according to new Homebrew apps, similar to the Wii Shop Channel. I do not expect this to actually happen but just to get a suggestion out there just in case :). --Mjbauer95 00:41, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

That would require a new release of the HBC which, if I understand correctly, will soon be deprecated. So, don't hold your breath. Also, don't accuse the HBC devs of lacking openness. Try, instead, to be appreciative. -- MetaFight 02:28, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Currently the development of such a channel banner is not possible. We do not currently understand how it works to do such a thing. Pinball wizard 23:21, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Easy Access

Is it possible to make a channel of this for the system menu for easy access to the HBB. This way it could be like the Wii Shop Channel. Thanks! OJ

The difficulty with this is extra code (not too difficult, mind) would have to be added in order for it not to crash if you forgot to insert the SD card. You can, of course, DIY by using a tool (can't remember what it's called <_<) available SOMEWHERE on the internet. --Lukegb 22:30, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
You won't see a channel version anytime soon, since there's no legal way to make a channel. The only channel code out there is Nintendo's code, and the Homebrew Channel's code, both of which the author's haven't given permission to use. All the channels you see out there use Nintendo's code, and this is copyright infringement. --Tantric 23:18, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Sponsors

This app is great but I know it must cost something to operate the servers and stuff. Did you ever think of getting sponsors to pay for these expenses and other hastles?

It's hosted on a shared server for $10 USD a month. I haven't thought of sponsers as I just host other websites on the server as well. If you want to help cover the cost, you can always click the ads on codemii :P --Teknecal 05:28, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
Are there ads? I don't see any. --Mjbauer95 19:02, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
Oh right, it should have been but I updated Wordpress and I must of forgotten to add them again. Added --Teknecal 06:33, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Custom Icons

I don't see much of a need to do this in the immediate future but you could add the ability to change the icons for HBC in HBB. You could have the person be able to download "packs" or just the single ones. Not much of a push but just a finishing detail for you. Pinball wizard 01:00, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

PC Port

Because of the latest WII menu update and the disabled updating applications through the wii, maybe there's a chance of a PC port of the Homebrew Browser even a text based one so we could auto-update or/and install new apps more easily. --itaiber2000

The 4.0 update only back installing homebrew on the NAND, it doesn't stop writing files to the SD card. LoganA 17:48, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

v0.3 update

Just wanted to mention how much I love the new update. It's everything I had been hoping to see and more! Thank you for this great overhaul! SMR Kurosan 08:44, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Cannot open file, aborting

I updated my Homebrew Browser today to 0.3. After it downloaded the zip file with all of the images and extracted them, it said at the bottom of the screen: "Cannot open file, aborting" or something like that. Then, it went into the new Homebrew Browser GUI (which I like) and worked fine. I was just wondering if this error message means anything that I should know about. --Bdr9 14:24, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Can you see if this happens again? If so, when scrolling through the list do you see any icon that says "Icon not found"? --Teknecal 10:29, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
After the delay after "Homebrew List Recieved", there is a lot of text that appears on the screen. I don't know if some of this is the "Icon not found" message, because it is so fast. None of he images in the list say "Icon not found". I was really just wondering if the error message meant anything that I should know about. Also, by the way, I think that you should be able to go to a different homebrew category while you are in the details screen for a homebrew. There are several places where you cannot get to the categories without hitting B, and pressing the category buttons does not work. Otherwise, the 0.3 update is great! Thanks! --Bdr9 22:53, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
