Not that it makes a huge difference, since you have to have the channel installed in the first place before it can be copied to the SD card in the correct (and signed) format for your Wii to launch it. But still, that's awesome.

It's occured to me that the update to the network policy might well have been to clarify the things that Wii Connect 24 already do, which is to update content for the News and Forecast channel and other WC24 enabled channels. I am personally worried that, although there is mention of the update not affecting previous installs, there is nothing about whether the update re-formats the SD, or overwrites the file system of the SD! Obviously a full SD backup is recommended, but is it a must???
