ds download play

is it possible to have an app that lets us use ds download play and a wii to run homebrew on the ds like we could load flashme without need for a m3 ds or such?

It is possible to have a Wii app that uses DS download play to send official DS demos to any DS.
It is not possible to have a Wii app that uses DS download play to send homebrew to a DS without FlashMe installed.
It is possible to have a Wii app that uses DS download play to send homebrew to a DS with FlashMe installed.
Unfortunately, some reverse engineering is required before the app can be written.

Thanks :). Atleast I know what can happen. Another question though, is it possible that with custom wii firmware we will be able to use the ds as a controller for some homebrew games?

Expanding on what Pepsiman said, to do so you'll need a way to run homebrew code on your DS to get it to communicate with the wii.You would be able to accomplish it with either:
1) FlashMe installed on the DS, or
2) A DS homebrew device such as an M3 to load the DS homebrew part instead
From what I understand, not much is known about DS-Wii communications, but it is posible. It likely (and shouldn't) require any "custom firmware," but it would take some reverse engineering to figure out how DS-Wii communications work (unless some people have been working in that area recently that I'm not aware of).

I already have FlashMe on my DS with and M3 DS a lot of friends don't have an M3 DS so I wanted to know if it could be possible. Anyways I think custom firmware would be needed to load homebrew over the connection because the demos are signed, aren't they. Also if anyone has any information about the DS Wii connection that would be great. I'm gonna see what I can do this weekend. I finally managed to get a new wii after i sold my old modded one on ebay :)

Oh, I thought you meant custom firmware on the Wii. Yes, you may need custom firmware on the DS (which is what FlashMe is) to load an unsigned app over DS Download made to send controls back to the Wii. That or use an M3 to launch the program instead, in that case you don't need FlashMe or any custom firmware, but of course you need a homebrew loading device. The bottom line is that you need a way to load homebrew on the Wii, and load homebrew on the DS. I'd be interested in seeing progress on DS-Wii communications :). If you're really going to look into it, you might want to start by looking at how WifiMe worked.

It actually seems relatively simple. First WiFiMe would need to be ported to the wii and then incorporated into apps. The developer would have to make 2 apps though and the DS app would just have to relay commands back and forth. I'm pretty sure I could make a very basic demo showing this. Most likely someone else would have to expand on this because my coding skills are pretty lacking but given enough time i can make a demo.

Well if you're able to pull off any demo that shows 2-way communication between the DS and Wii that would be fantastic and all anyone would need to get started themselves :D

I've been looking in to it for the past couple hours and and I know i can send data from the Wii to the DS but I'm having trouble finding a way to send data back to the Wii.

So how'd this turn out?

Best Wii Mod Chip

What is the best one? I want to play DVDs on my Wii and a lot of active development on the the modchips firmware and stuff. Is there one that meets my needs?

If you really only want it to play DVDs, well you can wait for [1] apparently coming in a week or so.

Yah I've seen but I want to test my soldering skills. I just got a second Wii from someone moving overseas and I wanna see what i can with it.
