DVDX ist eine Homebrew-Anwendung, die einen versteckten Homebrew-Kanal installiert und von anderen Programmen benutzt werden kann, um selbstgebrannte und gepresste DVD-Inhalte in der Wii ohne einen Modchip zu lesen. Das modifiziert kein IOS und macht das Ganze sehr sicher.
Installation

Dies sollte die bevorzugte Installationsvariante für die meisten Benutzer sein, da sie ein paar spezielle Optionen bietet die es in keinem der anderen Installer gibt. If you do have a mod chip, you may need to install PatchMii core before installing DVDX. Then, when asked for the installation mode, select PatchMii.

You will probably not want to use this installer, as it has essentially been made redundant by the Hackmii installer. But if you just want to use a simple DVDX installer and you have System Menu 3.4, you can use this. This installer version does not have the PatchMii and advanced modes. Q: Welche Art von DVDs soll ich benutzen?
A: Gepresste Video-DVD-ROMs funktionieren natürlich. DVD-Rs werden empfohlen, es funktionieren allerdings auch verschiedene andere Formate, unter anderem DVD+R/RW, und DVD-RW. Doppelschichtige DVDs werden nicht unterstützt. Vor allem Billig-Marken machen Probleme. DVD+R müssen ihren BookTyp auf DVD-ROM gesetzt haben, damit sie im normalen Modus (ohne Modchip) funktionieren.
Q: Warum liest die Wii meine DVDs nicht?
A: Be sure that you properly install DVDX. Be aware that since it does not modify the IOS, the disk will not show in the channel menu. You need to use a special homebrew program that utilizes DVDX support. If you have done all of that, and you still are unable to use your burned DVDs, check and be sure it burned correctly. Try re-burning the DVD on a DVD-r if it is not already.
Entwicklung
Homebrew developers looking to add DVD support to their applications will need to use libdi, which has been added to libogc. libdi requires the DVDX stub.
