4.4 is the latest Wii update, released in 2021. It has not fixed any major security flaws, instead preventing a certain set of title ids from loading. Priiloader is currently being uploaded to unblock these titles.

Currently, this update has bricked every Korean region Wii with Error 003. Disassembly of the System Menu suggests that Nintendo is bricking on the presence of the Korean key, as in other regions, not the absence. This can be worked around by removing the Korean key with KoreanKii before updating.

boot2 was also updated to v65280 here to erase BootMii. It is recommended to not update due to ES_ImportBoot being buggy, but if you plan on sending your Wii in to Nintendo, use UpdateMii by failoverfl0w.

Documents leaked in June 2021 suggest that Nintendo plans on allowing other developers to get their games blacklisted if they wish.
