Hi. I'm currently developing a game using GRRLIB and SNDLIB, but I'm having trouble with the sound. I was wondering if you could give me some tips how you did to get the sound to play correct.

What I've done until now is: I've patched the lastes CVS version of OGCLIB with SNDLIB. Then I've converted two wav files to 48000hz and saved them as PCM Mono 8bit (also tried PCM Stereo 16bit). I've added a rule to my Makefile so it compiles .wav files (located in data dir) when building the project (are you doing this as well or do you use a standalone utility for this?). I've initiated the sound library in 48000hz mode, but when I play my samples they sound really bad. Just a "scraping" sound.

I also tried to compile the example included in SNDLIB zip, but the samples sounds really bad there as well, the music (MOD) playing in the background sound good.

-Edit: I noticed that the sound effects in the pre-built examples for SNDLIB sounds bad aswell.

I don't tend to look at this page as much as the mahjongg discussion page so am sorry its taken a few days for me to get back to you :) I've e-mailed you the info that you are asking about, I remember having lots of problems with crackly samples before I changed the samples too, so hopefully the details that I have sent you should sort it all out. --JustWoody 22:25, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Any messages specifically about Mahjongg Wii should be placed on the game's discussion page.

I'd like to ask you to share source code. You app seems to handle many parts of game developing very well ( fonts, sounds ... ) so one could learn much from your source. I'd be glad if you share your code :)

I am planning to distribute the source, but it requires quite a bit of tidying up and getting time to do that is tough --JustWoody 19:39, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
I'm sure no one would disparage you for some untidy source code--especially when your game is one of (if not the most) polished homebrew game available. Pretty please? --Sinman 18:54, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
I second this request. Your game uses many things from music to animations, so one could learn new tricks from the code. --Alanceil 22:48, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
I've added the source for v0.8 on the main Mahjongg Wii page now. --JustWoody 11:42, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Just, any chance of you working out some way of using Wii / DS connectivity? Not sure how it'd work for Mahjongg but with the amount of DS homebrew out there, I'm amazed no-one's done it yet. Banjo Fett 12:05, 25 January 2009

Hi JustWoody!

Thanks for releasing the source code for mahjongg, but could you probably fully open source the mahjongg game(media files too)? And also put it in a source control software (bitbucket.org, github.org ?) I would love to help you improving this game or fix bugs. You can contact me at peinthor (at) gmail dot com
