With the development of [[BootMii]], the idea of booting straight to Homebrew may soon become a reality. In light of this, there are a couple of projects out there to create a homebrew-friendly System Menu alternative, such as [[WiiMU]].

El menú del sistema es un software pre-instalado en cada Wii que permite el lanzamiento de los juegos desde un disco de juego de Nintendo certificada oficialmente, el lanzamiento de canales certificados de Nintendo, de la Consola Virtual y titulos WiiWare.

Desempeña un papel importante en el inicio, apagado, y las transiciones entre los estados del sistema; cuando inicia, el menú del Sistema, lee los siguientes archivos:

  • /title/00000001/00000002/data/setting.txt
  • /title/00000001/00000002/data/state.dat
  • /shared/sys2/NANDBOOTINFO
  • /title/00000001/00000002/data/cache.dat
  • ?

Basado en la cosas leidas por lo principal (así como de ciertos pabellones establecidos en la memoria?), el menu puede hacer las siguientes acciones:

  • Hang (¡Inrecuperable del Brick!)
  • Iniciar un titulo del disco directamente desde el cache.dat
  • Apagar el sistema desde el modo GC
  • Expulsar un disco, luego apagarlo (Si el boton Eject es presionado)
  • Apagar a idle (Habilitado WC24, detiene PPC)
  • "Iniciar aplicacion de la NAND desde WC24"
  • Entrar al "Modo de recuperacion" ((también conocido como modo de IRD) o (aka IRD mode)) (Traduccion incorrecta)
  • Muestra la pantalla de advertencia de Salud, y procede con el inicio normal

En un sistema sin-modo, es la primera cosa que el usuario de Wii ve cuando apreta 'A' en la pantalla de salud y seguridad. Una X indica que no hay version aplicable de la region.
