Could you tell me how you got the HBB to update it self?--HUN73R /\/\. 03:28, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

It firstly connects to the internet and checks a text file which contains the file size of the boot.dol. If this file size doesn't match the size the user currently has then it prompts the user to update. Then it just downloads the new boot.dol and meta.xml files to the correct location. There is a download example here: Homebrew Browser#NetSend Example + HTTP Download Example

I have used this program successfully many time launched from the SD card. I now wish to move my HomeBrew to my USB Drive. My first attempt was to have a WBFS partition fist with a Fat32 second on the Drive. That did not work so I tried moving the Fat32 to the first partition. That started to work but each time I Download an App the Wii crashes with a Stack Dump... Can this app run from a Fat32 partition of a USB Drive? Secondly with the WBFS as the second partition my WiiFlow USB loader would not see my files. But that is for another PAGE.--capple123 02:10, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

How do you add custom repositories to the HBB? Deozaan 06:36, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

Here is the guide to adding a repo http://www.codemii.com/hbb-repositories/ --Teknecal 04:55, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Released Apps Page

What about moving the apps section to another page? (I mean here on Wiibrew) The list is getting a little long, no? -- Tj cool

YES! IT DOES ITS WAY TOO BIG! Randomdude 16:48, 16 September 2010 (CEST)

Add Extra Repos

Maybe there should be a tab for System Tools like AnyTitle Deleter, StarPatch (all versions), AnyRegion Changer, etc... With a warning when accesing it. Wiiman1 (talk 03:44, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

It won't have a password, it will just be another repo. If you would like I can assist anyone who wants to get this sort of repo out, you will need your own website though. --Teknecal 08:50, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
My repo now contains several of these apps. It also has a cool website. :P [1] - will probably be made opensource. If I've violated the license of any of the app owners, please let me know on my talk page. --Lukegb 03:39, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Okay, could you add a setting: Set Repo Password (So you can set a password if someone trys to change the default repo)

1. When you're setting your password it should make you enter it twice so you dont mess up.

2. You should be able to turn the password on/off, but to do that you have to enter the password.

3. To change the password you need to enter the old password then enter the new one twice. Randomdude 20:07, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Homebrew Browser Channel

I haven't done much lately with this but now I have a working compiler again so the installer is getting closer. The channel on the other hand is killing me. I am stuck with getting weird debug info like HBB used to give. Any help on how to read those Teknecal? Pinball wizard 01:19, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Does it say like debug [1] Not owner? I think that the fix is to format the SD card. --Teknecal 13:19, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
It isn't debug info I put it wrong. I meant to say Code Dumps. It looks to be all hex code. Check your pms too. Pinball wizard 19:06, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
The installer is getting closer. I have all the code checking out okay but I think that my development environment is having problems. Closer now though. Still have the channel issues. Hoping to maybe release before I die, lol. Pinball wizard 19:35, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
I'm now doing debugging on the installer. If I can figure the channel issue out and approval from Teknecal, I should release soon.*@Teknecal, The issue with the channel is that it shows the kind of code dump as what you have at the end of your 1 year anniversary video. I am going to add in some debug code to see if it is the channel launch code or HBB code. Do you know what IOS HBB runs on? Pinball wizard 20:39, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
I'm cleaning up code for the installer now, commenting out debug info and about to lock down the installer to the final channel pieces now instead of anything you want. I need to put some placeholder logo spots and finish recoding the code for the channel. I have a list of testers and should be ready to beta test in a week. @Teknecal, Don't worry about anything with your app just yet. I think I found the issue in the channel launching check your pms for details on it. After beta tests I will shoot you up for approval and I should have release 1.0 out very soon. Pinball wizard 02:48, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Umh... There is so many apps available, and no search. Search would be really useful! --Error 14:17, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Something like searching by letter, e.g. A, B, C will bring you directly to those applications. --Teknecal 04:55, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Disabling bald character option

I can't think anything wrong with this app, it works like a charm, however I find the bald d-pad facec a little out the place, I don't know, there's a possibility to make an option to disable this character?, the menu is pretty customizable right now, so I though this could be easy. TunaLover 23:07, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

Sure, will be in the next version. --Teknecal 04:55, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

hbb stats page

Would it be possible to add a table that shows ranks based upon the last 7 or perhaps 30 days of downloads please? It'll be very hard for a new app to get to the top of the "all time list."

Done: http://www.codemii.com/hbbstats_7days.php --Teknecal 02:34, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Add tab for Brawl hacks

This would be very awesome and helpful. Gamewizard71 01:29, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Better distinguish between downloaded/HBB apps

It would be possible, meta.xml being an xml file, to insert extra fields into it, without too many things exploding, surely. For instance, it could be possible to insert some hbb specific fields, for instance: <hbb:repository>lukegb</hbb:repository> <hbb:downloaded>true</hbb:downloaded> <hbb:lastversion>xyzabc</hbb:lastversion>

Update all apps

There should be an option to update all apps, and perhaps also an option to turn off the Wii afterwards. This way I can hit the button and go to bed with no worries.--SkiDragon 13:00, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

More icons

Replace the wii zapper icon for apps with a button called "more peripherals" that has information such as usb support. --Toagac 12:33, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

I'm hoping to have a little arrow to move the icons to the left so you can scroll through them. --Teknecal 00:44, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Multiple download threads

I would really like to see this app use multiple threads to download. Downloading files can be painfully slow. :). --Sonicsleep 03:54, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Could you add the newest version of WiiLinux White. I know you said it was too large, but I think it should be added--Calthephenom 19:58, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

It is still too large, however anyone hosting their own repository could do this. --Teknecal 00:44, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Classic Support

Could classic controller support be added? Bsltiger 07:53, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

I'll look into it. --Teknecal 00:44, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

HBC Themes

Add a new tab for all the Homebrew Channel Themes. Randomdude 23:49, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

I agree, there are many of us over here making these "Awesome" themes and would like an easier way for people to see how "Awesome" they really are. --Abeckring 06:52, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
In progress, it'll be a repo of HBC themes and I'll add a "fake" app in Utilities which will explain how to access the repo. --Teknecal 14:02, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
v0.3.9 test version here: http://www.codemii.com/hbb.v0.3.9.test.dol, HBC Themes are accessible via the Repo named "HBC Themes" (Settings page 3, Use Other Repositories). Let me know if there are any issues and also let me know if you have a >4GB device and if HBB picks up the right amount of free space. --Teknecal 01:28, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
How come some themes don't show up in the repository? --Abeckring 04:39, 2 September 2010 (CEST)
I just have to add the rest that were added to WiiBrew since about 1-2 weeks ago which I'll do in the next day or so. --Teknecal 10:35, 2 September 2010 (CEST)
Is there any possibility of putting themes in that aren't allowed on wiibrew? --Abeckring 23:34, 11 September 2010 (CEST)
No, probably not. --bg4545 01:42, 12 September 2010 (CEST)

HBB Themes

For the next version you should add theming, just like what the HBC has. It would be cool to have a custom HBB. --Abeckring 23:39, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Dead Repo Equals Dead HBB

Everytime i try to load Homebrew Browser on lukegb's repo it gets all the way to retrieving homebrew list but it keeps failing to retrieve the list and then it takes me to the Homebrew Channel. Randomdude 02:13, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Everytime I start the program, I get at least one "Requesting Homebrew List... Failed to receive homebrew list.", but the program usually gets it and works. Recently, however, the program has failed a number of times, and then says it will return to the HBC, but never does. It simply freezes and locks up on the black screen. Please fix the program. Jwguy 22:59, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

I think my server has asploded. My repo is no longer up for the moment, but should remain in the HBB list. Will fix, ASAP. --Lukegb 00:54, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Okay, the server is now back up. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. --Lukegb 20:49, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

I decided to poke around through the other repos, and it seems that the Moddingstudio repo is down or not cooperating right now, similar to the problems people were having recently when Lukegb's repo was down. In other words, the problem isn't Lukegb's repo (thanks, btw, for your work) but that HBB can't recover from being unable to find its repo. I did however find a manual fix (other than waiting for the repo to come back up)! Do this:

  1. Open up sd:/apps/homebrew_browser/settings.xml in a text editor (either use a homebrew app or put the SD card in your computer and open it there)
  2. Change the value of setting_repo to "0" and save the file (this is the default HBB repo)
  3. Enjoy the HBB, unless the main repo is down

(I also renamed this section because the bug is not Lukegb's repo being down but how the HBB handles a dead repo. I hope nobody minded.) Orison 10:54, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

You are correct in editing the settings.xml file, the other way is to keep pressing the 2 button on the Wiimote at start up, it should say "Reverting to CodeMii Repo", I'll add this to the text when HBB is starting up with a custom repo so users can know this more easily in the next version. --Teknecal 12:18, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
I didn't know that option existed, but I like it. Thanks for your hard work, Teknecal! Orison 12:26, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

Probably not the right section, but I keep getting the error codes -81, -27 and -22, could a list be made so that users can identify their meaning? --ColdPerson 14:17, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

I found a minor bug that you could fix in 0.3.9. If you add an app to queue then open up the "Download/Delete Queue" page, the app you selected will be there. But if you delete it from the list (By pressing -) and open the Download/Delete Queue page again, the name and short description will still be there, but not the icon. Again a very minor bug, but one that should be fixed. Keep up the good work!--Jrcolonial98 19:30, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

USB-HDD works, but icon download is extremely slow compared to SD OPEN

I also use a USB-HDD with a FAT32 on the 1st partition, with no SD Card whatsoever (my card slot is defective), and I noticed that HBB takes several minutes to update all the app icons. On a friend's Wii, I could see that this process takes only a few seconds, but unlike me, his HBB is in his SD Card. This has been like this since the days of HBB 0.3.5, and as of HBB 0.3.8, it hasn't changed. In spite of this, HBB works as expected, and code dumps are rare, but do occur, occasionally. --Friiloader 23:53, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Homebrew Browser Problem RECEIVED

I just recently updated my wii to the latest system menu, 4.3. I successfully installed the Homebrew Channel via Smash Stack. When I tried to install the Homebrew Browser, the app strangely did not appear. I followed the instructions posted on the WiiBrew website on how to install the Homebrew Browser. That did not work. If anybody can help me with this problem, I would surely appreciate it.--Jrubio 01:06, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Can you check your SD/USB device to see if you have the "homebrew_browser" folder in a folder called "apps" on the root of the device? Does the "homebrew_browser" folder also have a boot.dol file? Another thing to do is a chkdsk /r and/or format your SD/USB device then give it another go. --Teknecal 01:25, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
Worked like a charm. I really appreciate your help.--Jrubio 03:37, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

I can't get the HBB to work!

When I load the HBB app everything works except that when I click 'Download' it just freezes and nothinhg happends. How do i fix this? --Boondox 23:02, 1 September 2010 (CEST)

Can you try removing all other controllers apart from the Wiimote and remove any USB devices you might have? If that doesn't work, can you try and format you SD card after you back it up? --Teknecal 10:41, 2 September 2010 (CEST)
