General

I was mid-way coding a 2D version of this game for the Wii a few months back (but I got bored of it). Nice to see someone picking it up again. --Pinecone 21:09, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Well, the end goal will hopefully be a 3D version, but until I can find a good engine to work with, it'll have to be 2D. Speaking of, I was wondering if you still had some of your source laying around? I'm having some trouble getting the actual game loop running, and looking at someone else's code would definitely help. --RazorChrist 06:16, 14 March 2009 —Preceding undated comment added 10:16, 14 March 2009 (UTC).

Request: Controls

It struck me how much the sideways remote resembled the handlebar "stick" that the characters in Tron used to control their light cycles. Would it be possible to have a more natural-feel control as an option, simply tilting the controller right ( \ ) to turn right, or left ( / ) to turn left? --IanWatson 06:41, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

I actually had that same idea not long ago. I was thinking if it could be coded to work similar to how Mario Kart works, that would be about right. Problem is, I'm not exactly sure how they coded that. I think it has to do with the IR.x/IR.y values are, but I would have to do some testing to figure it out. Probably won't be in the initial release, but I'll definitely look into adding it to a later release. --RazorChrist 15:13, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
Ian, I was digging around in various game sources and came across one that had figured out how to use the Wiimote's TILT for movement. So when I finally have a releasable version of the game, it will have the option to choose whether you want to control your cycle using the D-Pad or by Tilting the Wiimote. I've already started initial testing with this function, and it works remarkably well. So there you go! --RazorChrist 00:43, 18 July 2009 (UTC) —Preceding undated comment added 05:43, 18 July 2009 (UTC).
Excellent news! Thank you! --IanWatson 16:08, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Beta Testers

If you would ever need a beta tester, then I'd be happy to help, but I don't know if you would need such a thing. But anyway contact if you wish too... -TPAINROXX/BKW 02:52, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, once I get it fully operational, I'll probably have a few testers to help debug. RazorChrist/TronCycles 07:30, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Good, this looks like it's going to be a really good game. -TPAINROXX/BKW 02:15, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm really looking forward to this release. I'd be happy to test it, too. :D WaxyPumpkin72 01:09, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
Is this ever gonna get DONE! An option to play 2D or 3D would be nice. Gamewizard71 15:35, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
It's still being worked on. Right now, I'm having issues getting to cycle trail walls to work. Some of the problem is due to the 3D engine itself still being in development stages, so as I'm working bugs out of my game, I have to work around the bugs in the engine. The finished game will be 3D with a 2D mini-map. As soon as I have the trail walls working properly, I might be ready for an Beta release. RazorChrist/TronCycles 07:23, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
Hi there. How's TronCycles coming along? Calvinss4 15:43, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
To be honest, it's been on hold the last few months due to moving and life. Also, I still haven't figured out a way to get the light walls to work correctly. Been needing help, but I'm paranoid about sharing code, since my PSP version got ripped off. RazorChrist/TronCycles 14:25, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
Please! Keep trying... the screenshots look great... You're doing great!! I will download this the second you release it! Randomdude 16:51, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
